Flying First Class-Warfare

“Now boarding those needing assistance and our first class customers”
I excused myself from the conversation, got up and walked toward the attendant taking tickets.
“It must be nice,” she said to her friend thinking I was out of earshot.
Funny, for 10 minutes we were enjoying a nice conversation and I was listening as she shared her weekend exploits in LA. But the moment she realized I was sitting in first class, I heard the tone in her voice change from friendly to almost…angry.
It Must Be Nice
Yes, it is nice to sit in first class, have more legroom and be waited on.
I experience a certain mindset shift. I feel more successful and deserving. I feel like I’ve “made it” and act accordingly. Somehow, when I fly coach, I feel, dare I say “ordinary.”
And really, I don’t want to feel ordinary. I want to feel extraordinary. I think I’m unique and believe every person is unique… and extraordinary.
If It Were Up to Me
To me, flying first class is not about comparing myself to others, but about feeling more confident in me. If it was up to me, we’d all fly first class, have extra legroom and be treated like rock stars.
Besides, knowing how hard you may be on your self, flying first class would act like a welcome relief from the grief you give your self.
If you haven’t done so, give it a try and pay attention to how you feel.
My angry friend would probably get angrier if she knew I only paid $50 more for my ticket.
